Wente Vineyards in Livermore Valley, California is one of the most historic and influential wineries in the United States. Founded in 1883, it holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously family-owned and operated winery in the country. Over five generations, the Wente family has helped shape California winemaking—most notably by introducing the Wente clone of Chardonnay, which today forms the backbone of much of the state’s Chardonnay plantings.
